Weeping Window opens this Tuesday in the medieval fortress and World Heritage Site Caernarfon Castle, home to the Museum of the Royal Welch Fusiliers regiment who fought throughout the First World War, including the Battle of the Somme. A number of notable writers, including the poets David Jones, Siegfried Sassoon, Robert Graves and Hedd Wyn, served with the regiment during the First World War. The last poppy was planted this morning by Gerald Wynn, nephew of Hedd Wyn alongside artist Paul Cummins and designer Tom Piper.
Tickets are available to book to see Weeping Window at Caernarfon Castle from Tuesday 11 October. Tickets are free, but booking is recommended as the Castle has limited capacity.
