Artist Paul Cummins and designer Tom Piper unveiled Weeping Window today at Hereford Cathedral. The historic façade of the cathedral provides a stunning backdrop for Weeping Window, where there are two First World War memorials in the cathedral: one commemorating men of the Herefordshire Regiment, and one dedicated to the students and staff of Hereford Cathedral School who lost their lives. A Book of Remembrance for the husbands and sons of members of the Hereford Mothers’ Union who gave their lives in the war is also on permanent display.

This morning Professor Kate Williams presented a Facebook Live video at the unveiling of the sculpture. You can catch up on the Facebook Live video here.

The Poppies Tour offers the public the chance to experience the sculptures for free at venues around the UK. In Hereford, it is jointly presented by 14-18 NOW, Hereford Cathedral and Herefordshire Council. After 29 April, the sculpture will travel to Carlisle Castle, continuing its UK-wide tour.
