Poppies: Wave has opened at the CWGC Naval Memorial in Plymouth, with artist Paul Cummins and designer Tom Piper in attendance at today’s launch. The sculpture sweeps around the memorial, overlooking the Plymouth Sound and the English Channel beyond.
The CWGC Naval Memorial was unveiled in 1924, situated directly on the Hoe. It commemorates 7,251 sailors of the First World War who have no known grave, and also bears the names of sailors from Australia and South Africa.
You can see the sculpture in Plymouth until 19 November 2017. This is the final location for Wave on the 2017 Poppies Tour. Dates and locations for the 2018 tour will be announced in October.
