BRAND NEW JEREMY DELLER DOCUMENTARY ON BBC FOUR

On Sunday 13 November at 8pm, the story of we’re here because we’re here will be told in a new BBC Four documentary. This modern memorial took place across the UK on 1 July 2016 to mark the centenary of the start of the Battle of the Somme. The event was conceived and created by Turner Prize-winning artist Jeremy Deller in collaboration with Rufus Norris, artistic director of the National Theatre, and saw hundreds of volunteers dressed as First World War soldiers appear unexpectedly in areas across the UK.

Commissioned by the BBC and 14-18 NOW, this documentary co-directed by Jeremy Deller will be a reflection on the unfolding story of the day, the immense public response and the participants’ reactions to being part of this unique memorial.

Watch our we’re here because we’re here short film ahead of the documentary on Sunday.
