Dear Jenkin Harris,
I’m your great granddaughter Lucy, I only found out most of what I know about you recently due to my mum doing family history. I now know all about your story of being a prisoner of war. I can’t imagine how terrible and traumatising that must have been for you and when I was first told about it the first thing I asked was, did you survive?I was incredibly relieved to find out that you did survive and evidently started a family which has led to me. In school I haven’t learnt that much about WWI but what I do know is from Michael Morpurgo books and in them are tales of horrible events and I am proud to say that my great grandfather survived. Learning that you did survive made me wonder what you would have had to have gone through, this made me even prouder to think that you were determined to get out alive and I hope that determination has been passed down to me.
I am proud to be the descendant of such a great man, you will be remembered for generations to come.
Your loving and proud great granddaughter Lucy.
