I am writing a letter to ask you questions about your life as a soldier. What was your name? How old were you? Were you from Great Britain or Germany? How were you killed? Bomb? Gun? Gas? Or tank? Did you have a wife, child or pet? It must have been devastating for those you left behind.
You must have been lonely and had sorrow in your heart in those final minutes. Why did it take so long to find you? How did they find out who you were? How did they know you wore a scarf and cloak? Where were you buried after they found you? It must have been cold, damp and over run with rats and mice, in the trenches. I bet your enemy was vast and horrible but now its history, all the countries involved are now at peace.
Rest in peace
