Dear Eddie,my Ed
How I truly miss your dirty laundry scattered around the house and you messing up your sunday bests when you rolled around in the garden. In there every day,you were! I miss every single part of you; your silky blonde hair which slipped inbetween my worn arthiritus fingers and your speedy legs which were like a cannon which flew faster than the speed of light. I would do anything to see you one last time and relive our memories one more time.
My boy,my son would not dare to fall asleep without a soft whisper from me saying ‘I love you, always and forever’ but when you grew your wings… you did because you were the bravest there was. You didn’t have to be told you were loved, you always knew. Your father and I treasured you. You were our one and only. Our little Eddieboo!
From the millions of memories that I have shared with you Eddie, one that I will remember vividly is when your father and I had saved for months to buy you a swing set for your 4th birthday. We lead you out to the garden and shouted “surprise Eddieboo!”
Your face lit up like a lantern and immediately you were begging to be lifted on and swung back and forth. So we did; we lifted you gently onto the swing and cautiously pushed you back and forth, a couple inches in the air. Your tiny little hands clenched onto the thin ropes on either side of the swing and you had a beaming smile painted on your perfect face from ear to ear. I could see you struggling and trying to get off but your father persuaded me that you were completely fine (men,ey?) you fell onto the hard concrete. I screamed and rushed to grab you like a hypocrytical mother! You cried and finally got up before I managed to get to you and you looked up innocently and said “mummy,I’m a brave boy!” you just fell and got back up! That day I learnt one thing. In life you have your ups and downs and often fall but the best thing you can do is get back up and that’s exactly what I’m going to do in honour of my hero, you.
I cannot wait till the day I get to be reunited with my flawless boy. I will make you prouder and prouder by the day. I love you so so much and you are always in my heart and you will be laughing and crying beside me all day long. Rest with the angels and I will see you soon. Goodnight Eddie, I love you always and forever…Mummy x
