LETTER TO AN UNKNOWN SOLDIER; SUBMISSIONS CLOSE

5 August 2014

Yesterday we received our last submissions to LETTER TO AN UNKNOWN SOLDIER.

The response to the project has been amazing; we received 21, 439 letters in total, from across the globe.

The website stopped receiving letters at 11pm on Monday 4th August, a hundred years to the hour from the moment when the Government announced that negotiations were over and this country was at war.

All of the letters are still available to read online; and will be until 2018. After that everyone’s letters will be stored online in the collection of the British Library.
