Learning & Engagement - 14-18 NOW

Fiercest Light

Fiercest Light built on the legacy of Fierce Light, a major national co-commission from 14-18 NOW, Norfolk & Norwich Festival and Writers’ Centre Norwich.

Working with both schools and community groups, young people were encouraged to draw inspiration from themes associated with the First World War in order to create a unique contemporary response.

The project consisted of two parts: collaborative poetry workshops from Writers’ Centre Norwich, followed by filmmaking workshops led by BBC Voices which taught participants how to transform their words into film.

Teachers used the accompanying Key Stage 3 learning resources to amplify existing local history and literacy units of study and for many young people the project was their first encounter with digital storytelling.

The films created from this project culminated on Remembrance Day, 11 November 2016, with a screening event at Cinema City, Norwich and can be viewed here Learn More
