Dr Blighty brings Brighton landmark to life

1 June 2016

Last week the people of Brighton embraced Dr Blighty and enjoyed seeing the Royal Pavilion Gardens transformed into an outdoor set, filled with new characters telling the story of how the Estate was used as a hospital for Indian servicemen during the First World War.  Audiences were treated to short moments of drama and immersed in the walk-through installation before seeing the iconic building illuminated with brightly coloured projections after dark.

A resident of Brighton said, “It was a stunning show. The combination of lights and Indian music was really evocative and the packed gardens had a real festival feel.”

Ajay Chhabra, the artistic director of Nutkhut, which devised the show, said: “The overwhelming emotional connection and love that Brighton has shown gives me great pride and joy.”
