£3 MILLION GRANT TO 14-18 NOW

3 December 2014

Chancellor of the Exchequer announces major grant towards projects focused on northern cities including Manchester, Liverpool, Leeds, Sheffield and Newcastle, to commemorate the centenary of the First World War.

Jenny Waldman, Director of 14-18 NOW said: ‘We are delighted that the Chancellor of the Exchequer has recognised the value of 14-18 NOW’s work and has granted us £3 million to invest in major projects for our 2016 programme.  This builds on the £5 million granted by the Heritage Lottery Fund and the £5 million granted by Arts Council England, and the money we are raising ourselves. We look forward to working with new partners in the cities of north England, as well as across the whole of the UK, engaging all communities with the extraordinary heritage of the First World War through the inspiring work of today’s great artists.’
